Microsoft 365 contact data does not include a Last Name or Middle Initial field. Additionally, the Middle Initial field is automatically synchronized by Azure AD by default (dirsync).

CiraSync has recently introduced a new feature for users who want to synchronize the Middle/Initial Name field. This is done by mapping the initial field of the GAL to the Middle/Initial Name field. To begin synchronizing the Middle/Initial Name field for your users, do the following:

  1. Access the CiraSync control panel.
  2. Click on the username in the upper right corner of the window.
  3. Click on Settings . The CiraSync settings will open.
  4. Click on contact fields . The contact fields settings will open.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the window.
  6. Check the attribute box Assign GAL initials to middle name.
  7. Click SAVE in the upper right corner of the window.
